The kitchen has always been the heart of the home, and this one is no exception. From the very beginning, it was clear that this space would be the star of the project. The blue lower cabinets act as a neutral foundation, offering just the right amount of color without overwhelming the space. Paired with crisp white uppers, they create a harmonious balance that ties together the natural charcoal slate floors and the Carrara marble countertops. Bamboo cabinet pulls and other natural textures give a nod to French Country design, which values understated elegance and materials inspired by nature.

Carrara marble, a timeless choice in French and European interiors, brings an element of classic refinement. While some clients shy away from natural stone due to its tendency to develop a patina over time, this homeowner embraced it. The soft veining and evolving surface add character, embodying the French Country ethos of beauty in imperfection.

Of course, no French-inspired kitchen would be complete without a focal point, and Reginald the rooster mural proudly takes center stage behind the range-top. Roosters are a classic motif in French design, symbolizing luck and welcoming energy.

Adjacent to the kitchen is the pantry, a functional yet beautifully designed space. The intricate Delft tile backsplash, depicting scenes of pastoral life and windmills, adds a charming touch of Dutch influence. To let the tile shine, the white cabinetry from the kitchen carries into this space, maintaining a cohesive look.

Natural soapstone countertops, with their deep tones and silky texture, complement the pantry’s functional aesthetic. Wooden open shelving provides ample storage while adding warmth and a rustic feel. Open shelves are a practical choice in pantries, offering easy access without the clutter concerns typically associated with kitchen shelving.

Together, the kitchen and pantry illustrate how French Country design combines functionality with timeless elegance. These spaces invite you in, encouraging you to savor every detail—from the natural materials to the handcrafted finishes.
