The entryway of a home is more than just a pass-through; it’s a preview of what’s to come. In this project, the entryway immediately establishes a welcoming atmosphere with sophisticated and traditional elements. A standout feature is the Chinoiserie wallpaper, which mimics the look of linen cloth, adding a soft texture that gives the space a refined, timeless feel. The wallpaper’s traditional design, with its subtle yet intricate patterns, evokes a sense of calm as you step inside.

To complement the wallpaper, the trim and doors in the entryway are painted a light French blue, the same color used in the parlor—a hue chosen by the client prior to working with us that became a key inspiration for the entire project. This soft, calming blue ties the entryway to the rest of the home, creating a gentle flow between spaces. The slate tile floors in the entryway, which also continue into the powder room down the hall, add an earthy, grounded element to the design.

While the entryway sets a serene tone, the powder room is a space where we took a more contemporary approach. The wallpaper in the powder room reinterprets the traditional Chinoiserie style with a modern twist. The contemporary design brings fresh energy to the space while maintaining the intricate, nature-inspired motifs that are characteristic of the style.

The powder room also embraces mixed metals, adding an eclectic flair. Polished chrome fixtures pair beautifully with the custom Carrara marble floating sink, while gold accents highlight the ornate mirror and delicate artwork, offering a nod to Rococo opulence. The slate tile floors further ground the space, bringing a rustic French Country influence into the otherwise refined design.

Though the entryway and powder room are distinct from one another, they both contribute to an overarching design that blends traditional French Country charm with the opulent, ornate qualities of Rococo. Both spaces set the stage for the beauty and elegance that unfolds as you move further into the home.
