Our Favorite Maine Artists

Maine is filled with an abundance of creative makers who are an essential part of the wonderful community that we get to live in every day. It is so inspiring to see what others are designing and creating, and we love the opportunity to support local artists and makers. We are featuring a few of our favorites who make beautiful pieces that you can add to your home. After your space has been remodeled, it provides the perfect blank canvas opportunity to add some meaningful Maine-made pieces to your home.

The Founder of Campfire Pottery owns Ember, a gift shop in Portland, Maine where you can find their ceramic bowls, pitchers, plates, mugs, and vases in beautiful shades and shapes. If you are not local to Maine, you can purchase Campfire Pottery’s beautiful pieces on their website. We love their Soap Pump. The shape is so elegant and bold, perfect for a newly designed bathroom or kitchen. Their Looped Low Serving Bowl is perfect for displaying citrus and other fruit on your countertops. Summer is just around the corner and a bowl for fresh fruit and vegetables is always a good idea.

A native to Maine and a lover of the outdoors, this popular artist captures beautiful landscapes of her home state using watercolor and acrylics. You can buy her original work or a prints to hang on your walls to decorate your interiors. These abstracts are some of our favorites and we loved these already framed pieces on canvas. Our personal favorite is her Scarborough Print on Canvas, where our showroom is located! Sarah’s work has something for everyone and we just love seeing how she has captured the Maine beauty around us.

Katherine Watson makes beautiful items for the home by first sketching her designs and then using either a linoleum block or carving by hand to get the finished product. The colors and wild florals that are seen in her work are exciting and remind us of vibrant Maine summers. She has items for every space in your home, like this Letterpress Calendar which is sure to add life and joy to your office space! These beautiful Tea Towels are a perfect pop of color to any kitchen and these prints from her Garden Series are great for entryways, bedrooms and anywhere that needs a refresh and a touch of cheer!

There is nothing more magical than a few burning candlesticks glowing around the home. On the bedside table, centered on the buffet in a dining room, or right by your bathtub as you soak, there is always a space that could use another candle! Made in Maine, these Danica Maine Taper Candles can be spotted in 27 different colors at The Post Supply, a modern take on a classic general store in the heart of Portland, Maine. Grab a color for every season, or every room in your home and bring in that special touch of handmade elegance.

ANK Ceramics Studios is based in Portland, Maine making stunning pieces that add that spark of creativity to your kitchen and dining room. Artist Alan Claude working out of Gardiner, Maine creates unique graphic prints of classic Maine scenery and highlights everything we love about our home state; boats, lobsters, the sea, snow covered scenes, and more. We can’t help but fall in love with the bold colors seen in his work like this one of Rockland Breakwater Light and love the way his shapes capture so much of the scenery and landscape that we are privileged to look at every day. His work captures the essence of Maine, and his pieces are great gifts to yourself or a friend.
