5 Ways You Didn’t Know You Could Use a Magic Eraser

The Magic Eraser seems like the cure-all for dirt and grime that gets on pretty much anything. At Arcadia Kitchen and Bath, we count on these lovely inventions to clean more than just our walls.

Made of melamine foam, Magic Erasers are nearly tough as glass and make cleaning stubborn stains a breeze. People generally know the basics of how to use a Magic Eraser, but we’ve compiled a list of our best tips and tricks on how to get the best clean possible. Our one rule of thumb is to wet it with water before using it to get the most out of your sponge.

Remove Dirt and Scuffs from Baseboards

Baseboards can take a beating, especially in New England with changing seasons, winter boots and little ones in the house. Any marks from shoes, grime buildup, and caked-on dust suddenly go away and become pearly white again when using the Magic Eraser sponge. No more scrubbing your baseboards each season only to have them feel just slightly cleaner than before. Let’s work smarter, not harder.

Remove Stickers

The worst part about buying a new centerpiece or plates is the sticker residue that is left behind. No matter how carefully you try to peel off the sticker, you are always left with gunk that never seems to want to come off. A gentle scrub using a Magic Eraser always does the trick to remove that excess.

Clean the Rubber Midsole of a Shoe

Yellowed, scuffed shoes are something we are all familiar with here in Maine and New England. Having an effective way to clean them without harsh chemicals or endless scrubbing is a must. Dampening a Magic Eraser and gently scrubbing will remove any marks or grime that has made its home on your new, white-soled shoes.

Clean Tile and Grout

Whether it’s the tile in your kitchen, or the grout in your bathroom, simplify your cleaning routine by using a Magic Eraser. We all dread when it comes time to scrub tile and grout, but it doesn’t have to be such a headache. Using a Magic Eraser will do the trick every time. Wet the sponge, wring out the water and scrub away. PS. You can throw that old scrubbing toothbrush in the trash. You can thank us later.

Clean Mirrors Windows and More

There really is no limit to how you can use Magic Erasers to clean, but don’t forget to give it a try on your mirrors and windows. It works every time, especially in places like bathroom mirrors that always seem to have that toothpaste build up. We love this trick not only because it works, but because it also saves dozens of paper towels that you might use when cleaning windows, mirrors, walls, hardware and more.
