All Black Cabinets

In recent months we have seen a shift from bright white spaces and more toward dark ambient interiors. The dark tones add more warmth and drama to a space while also keeping it sophisticated and functional. There are many ways to incorporate this trend into your personal design by incorporating different hardware accents and decor pairings. Dark accents in kitchens can really tie the space together and add just the right amount of contrast. While this may be a current interior design trend, it is one that we have seen before, showing elements of timelessness. This is especially true in coastal, New England interiors. Don’t be afraid to go dark with your kitchen cabinetry. We suggest a neutral dark color that will be forever timeless, like black, versus choosing something very trendy like an emerald green.

Curves & Arches

This trend is a throwback to the 1970s and 80s when organic shapes were all the rage. This design aesthetic has been popular among architects and homeowners alike. We see this detail in many mid-century modern homes, especially here in Maine. They are perfect for creating a focal point in any room. Breaking up flat, linear walls with a beautiful archway will never go out of style. This gives your space movement and a sense of comfort. Whether you are building a home from the ground up or remodeling your space, our talented team of builders and designers can help you bring this design vision to life. Click here to get in touch.

Natural Materials

Earthy and organic hues and materials might be the biggest trend yet of 2023. It is no secret that neutral colors never go out of style. Take it up a notch by incorporating materials and tones you can find in nature. Bring light wood, gray stone, and serene green elements to your space. You will find yourself more grounded, relaxed, and focused, bringing the outdoors in. Play with different fabrics and materials that reflect nature and create your sanctuary. One of the ways we love to incorporate this trend here in Maine is by incorporating natural elements that are native to the area and never go out of style. This includes wood, quartz, and stone. You simply can’t go wrong with these!

Textured Tiles & Backsplashes

Your kitchen is not complete in 2023 without a textured and modern backsplash. Plus, in our opinion, it is by far the most fun element to design! The number one trend right now is adding a textured glossy pop of color. A natural tone like blue, green, and warm whites are the most popular. We suggest choosing a timeless color to ensure you love your backsplash for the years to come. That is why we often opt for softer colors. Being on the coast of Maine, we have a special place in our hearts for bold pops of blues to really bring that nautical feel to life. In the Saco kitchen remodel featured above, we used a balance of softer blues for added visual interest. Our clients loved the finished product!

Bold Colored Islands

If you are looking to make a statement in your kitchen, this trend is for you! Bold colors are replacing neutrals when it comes to kitchen islands. Rich greens, royal purples, and vibrant blues are what we’ve been seeing the most. We love incorporating the other trends of natural materials and mixing in a bold accent. We chose a deep navy for this kitchen and let’s face it, navy never goes out of style. Find inspiration, optimism, and energy every day in your home when you switch your kitchen island to a bold new color!
