Decorating Your Newly Renovated Kitchen

One of the best parts about remodeling your kitchen space is getting to redecorate once it’s finished! Small updates to match the big updates you did will complete and finish off the whole look and feel of the room. Think of it like a cherry on top! Below are a few items that will help you finish up the job-we hope you get inspired.

Rugs

A kitchen rug is a great addition to the space and helps both in function and design! It is also a must as we approach the colder months here in Maine. Unless you have radiant heat flooring of course! Be sure to use a rug that is washable, as this will most likely get spilled on or will see a bit of water if it’s below the sink. This rug from West Elm adds a touch of color to the room and is small enough to be tossed into the washing machine. It also comes in a longer runner style, that can stretch across your kitchen for a fuller look. Adding something soft into the room will warm it up a bit, as kitchens can start to feel industrial or stale since most of the materials used in this room are of course meant for function. That is why we love adding decor elements like this to bring warmth to a very functional space.

Wall Organization

Go vertical with your decorating and start filling up the walls. This clock from Potterybarn has both a vintage and modern touch to it, the perfect balance for any New England home. Another great addition to the kitchen is a bulletin board or chalkboard for last-minute notes, or cards and photos. It can also act as a calendar for remembering key dates. There’s nothing it can’t do! This 3 Piece Set from Potterybarn has a few options to choose from, or you can select all three if you are looking to kick organization into high gear.

The best dish towels for your kitchen after renovation in Maine

Dishtowels

Something to keep in mind when shopping for kitchen items is noting what items you want simply for looks, and which ones you want for functional use. Often there can be a crossover, but one item we find that gets separated is dishtowels. Determine which towels will get messy from clean-ups, and which will look perfect hanging from the oven? Williams Sonoma has both, and even this more functional option is cute. The Classic Striped Kitchen Towel comes in a variety of colorways and is as classic as it comes! These Meyer Lemon Kitchen Towels are so cute, and pretty to use as decoration but are of course easy to wash if need be.

The Latest Cookware

Nothing keeps a newly renovated kitchen feeling nice and new like seamless organization. Caraway has amazing cookware sets that come with their own stands to ensure your new kitchen cabinets stay clean and tidy. They come in a few different colors and are coated in ceramic to ensure that you aren’t cooking with anything that could be toxic or harmful. Best of all, they’re super easy to clean!

Windowsill Herbs

A wonderful addition to your kitchen is of course something that you can eat! An herb garden is one of the easiest ways to bring a little life into your newly renovated spot. This Indoor/Outdoor Herb Planter from Crate & Barrel sits perfectly on a wider window sill or anywhere in your kitchen that gets some light. Plant a few herbs that you may use when cooking or making drinks like mint, chives, parsley, and oregano. Lovely and functional, a great addition to the kitchen. We love this especially when the colder months hit here in Maine. You can still enjoy a little hint of summertime with fresh herbs at the ready.
