2023 Kitchen Design Trends

Every so often we like to come together as a team and talk about what design trends we see shifting and changing. This is an especially important activity for us at the turn of the season or in this case, with the start of a new year. It is always fun to chat about upcoming trends, and brainstorm ways to incorporate them into our client’s homes. We love the opportunity to blend new trends with timeless design elements, keeping your spaces looking fresh and operating at their best. Below are 7 trends we see moving into 2023 along with simple ways to incorporate them into your renovated kitchens. Need additional help as you consider a kitchen remodel? Painted Cabinets

Wood cabinetry is always in style and a very popular option for those remodeling their kitchens. In 2022 we have seen bold-colored cabinets rise in popularity. The good news is this trend is here to stay heading into 2023.

Many celebrity homes have featured green cabinets, specifically, and most recently Architectural Digest featured Emma Chamberlain’s home which was complete with a beautiful kitchen, showcasing soft green cabinets. It is a calming color that is great for every season. We incorporated a soft sage hue into our Steep Falls Cook’s Kitchen. Click here to view more highlights in our portfolio.

Kitchen workstations, cooking with the entire family.

Workstations

Big workstations like the one on the left have been sought after, as they are great for cooking together as a family. This is a great way to improve functionality in the kitchen, fit for socializing while preparing food or sharing snacks and chatting. These are great for anyone who loves to host, has a larger family, or likes that extra room to get creative in the kitchen.

High quality kitchen appliances for kitchen renovaiton.

High End Appliances

Clients are investing more in high-quality appliances, which is a smart addition when renovating. This is such a simple way to upgrade the value of a home. Beautiful stainless steel appliances are easy to keep clean and last for years and years. It’s no mystery that these continue to be one of our most common conversations with clients when we start the remodel.

Open Concept Shelving

A wonderful aspect of upgrading the kitchen is the opportunity it presents to re-organize. It allows you the ability to reimagine how the kitchen operates and strategize better ways to optimize storage and product display. A popular shift that is occurring is open-concept shelving. Not only is it functional, but it even adds a bit of charm to the room like these larger mason jars on the left showcase. Ready to see more from this project? Shifting to Color

We are seeing a trend of moving away from bright whites and softer cream-beige tones and instead adding colors and textures into the space. That really sleek, all-white, modern look that was in for the last decade is being transitioned with a focus on bolder colors. Painted cabinets or colored barstools are being added, and bold cookware is even popular with brands like Our Place and Caraway proving that color is in right now when it comes to cooking and the kitchen!

Tile with Texture

Interesting tiles used as backsplashes, and even move into the rest of the walls are very popular right now in both kitchen and bathroom spaces. They are easy to keep clean and add a really nice warm texture to the room. The layering effect shown in the image to the left adds a really dynamic look to a room and will be very popular moving into 2023.

Kitchen Hardware Inspiration, Design and Kitchen Remodel in Maine

Unique Hardware

Clients are opting for more unique hardware choices on cabinet handles but also with kitchen faucets and sink areas. This is a really fun spot to go a little bold with your design choices. It can add such an elegance to the overall look and feel. Big, architectural faucets have been really “in” and double as really functional. You can always have both!
